After arriving in the city of Cusco from Lima, you’ll be transferred to your desired hotel. We’ll start the pick-up from the hotels between 09:00 and 09:30 AM to begin the Cusco city walking tour. First, we’ll show you the impressive colonial city built on Inca bases. Then, we’ll continue with the tour to the four ruins surrounding Cusco: Sacsayhuamán, a great fortress located on the northern outskirts of Cusco, Qenqo, a sacred amphitheater and a center of worship to the God Puma, where human sacrifices were made, Pucapucara, a red fortress that gets it hue from twilight falling on the rocks, and Tambomachay, a temple to worship the water. Once we’ve completed the tour, we’ll return to our hotel situated 5 kilometers away. We’ll spend the night there.
The following day, after having breakfast at 08:30 AM, we’ll start the tour by visiting the town of Pisac, a picturesque colonial mestizo village. You’ll also have the opportunity to celebrate Sunday’s mass with the Quechua people. Then, we’ll visit the villages of Coya, Lamay, Calca, and Urubamba. We’ll have a buffet lunch there. In the afternoon, we’ll have a guided tour of the town of Ollantaytambo, where the archeological park of Ollantaytambo is located. It’s a gigantic agricultural complex that was used by the military in the time of Tahuantinsuyo. Finally, we’ll return to Cusco while visiting the town of Chincheros along the way. It’s an ancient agricultural center of the beautiful Andean landscape that highlights its colonial church. We’ll stay the night in our hotel.
On day 3, after having breakfast at the coordinated time, we’ll continue our Cusco adventure by arriving at the train station. From there, we’ll visit Machu Picchu and stay there for the next three hours. Then, we’ll go to the Puente Ruinas station, where we’ll take the buses that will take us to the Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu. Discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911, it’s the most famous example of Inca architecture. We’ll enjoy a guided tour of the main buildings of the citadel, including El Mirador, Temple of The Three Windows, El Intihuatana, The Main Square, etc. At the end of this Cusco excursion, we’ll take the bus down to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we’ll have lunch at a local restaurant. Finally, in the afternoon, we’ll return to our hotel via train to stay the night.
We’ll continue the tour on the 4th day by picking you up from your hotel somewhere between 08:30 and 09:00 AM. The first place we’ll visit is Moray, located an hour away from Cusco. Moray is considered an agricultural research center of the Incas. It’s a unique place with large grass-covered rings. In ancient times, these rings provided different micro-climatic conditions, which allowed farmers to observe and improve various crops produced at different heights. After visiting Moray, the next stop we’ll hit is the salt mind of Maras, where the saltwater coming down from the mountains fills thousands of wells and evaporates, producing salt of high culinary quality. The unique visual panorama is the perfect place to take beautiful photos. Finally, we’ll take you back to your hotel in Cusco around 2 PM. You can take the rest of the day to relax or explore, the choice is yours.
On the 5th and final day of our trip, we’ll have breakfast early in the morning and prepare for departure from the fascinating city of Cusco to Lima or your next destination.
